Tax disc changes

Monday 1 September, 2014

Tax disc changes alert! The old style road tax disc as we know it will be abolished on the 1st October. What does this mean for you?

Well firstly it means if you don’t keep your car tax up-to-date you will receive a fine of up to £1000. Its all electronically monitored so the disc itself is obsolete. You can pay for your road tax either online or at a Post Office similarly to now.

The biggest change to be aware of is that from October 2014 when you sell a car the road tax is no longer included.  The new buyer will have to apply for tax straight away and not benefit from any unused months still valid.

The seller can in fact claim a refund from the DVLA for the remaining tax on the vehicle and its the sellers responsibility to inform the DVLA of the sale.

For more information see the DVLA advice.

Fleet Manager, Fleet Van Servicing Centre North London.

Whilst travelling to you you ordered the part, and an hour after my initial call my van was on the lift and a new starter-motor was being fitted. An hour later I was on my way back to work. I cannot thank you enough for your help. Not only did you go out of your way to keep us working, you did it at a very sensible price.
